Upon completion of her post graduate studies in June 2010, Ms. Shihab briefly worked for an insurance litigation firm, HBM Lawyers in Australia before returning back to the Maldives where she joined the Ministry of Economic Development as the Legal Advisor to the Minister of Economic Development in October 2010 where she was involved in drafting and reviewing laws, regulations and agreements on trade and foreign investment related matters. During her time at the Ministry until April 2012, she concurrently served on the Privatization Committee (Advisory Body to the President of Maldives on Public Private Partnership Projects) assisting on an array of high profile national projects including the Male’ International Airport Concession Project and Thilafushi Solid Waste Management Project.
She also has extensive experience in telecommunications, corporate law and capital market sector gained through her time at Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun PLC (Dhiraagu) (from July 2012 to September 2013), the primary telecommunications service provider in the Maldives in her capacities as Company Secretary and Manager of Investor Relations.
Since joining Suood & Anwar LLP full time in September 2013, she has been working on corporate matters, employment matters and major acquisitions in the tourism industry. Her main areas of interest include corporate law, employment law, insurance law and banking and finance.
